Want to know if books and kind conversation can really make a difference to people? Have a look here at patron Ben Hodgson, checking out a book in 2011. Now look at him in 2016, at the Street Books work party.
February Events for Street Books
There are two good things on the calendar for Street Books this month. First off, don't miss our annual book drive and celebration on Friday, February 12, from 11-2, (NW 6th & Davis). This will be our 4th annual collaboration with Sisters of the Road, and we're very happy to be providing blank valentine cards and journals for the diners. We'll also be handing out books, and stocking the shelves at Sisters. If you have some paperback books you'd like to contribute, please stop by.
We're also very pleased to announce that our own street librarian Diana Rempe will be performing at this year's Live the Revolution, bicycle-themed storytelling event. That happens on Friday, February 12 at the Alberta Abbey (126 NE Alberta Street). Doors open at 6:30. We'll see you there!

New Bike from Splendid Cycles!
We are thrilled to announce that Barb and Joel at Splendid Cycles have donated a shiny, new & fully built-up Bullitt cargo bike to Street Books, to help us expand our reach in the city, and keep our operation going, rain or shine. Much as we love our original bike library (pictured with street librarian Redd Moon in bottom photo), it has grown creakier over the years, and doesn't exactly turn on a dime. The talented Jeff Lauten at Badger Bikes has built a beautiful, water-tight box to go on the Bullitt. The Street Books team is so thankful for the donation.
