Community Engagement

Each human is a walking secret history, a book of adventures & misadventures, sorrows, triumphs & humor.

It doesn’t take long to look around and wonder about the larger forces at work that have resulted in some people climbing into a tent on the sidewalk for the night while others take the elevator to their loft.

Street Books has been able to interrogate the systems that don’t serve, and ask why our patrons are missing from conversations on the policies in our city that most impact them. But there is always more work to be done. 

The main solutions to houselessness are mental & physical support and affordable housing, and there are not nearly enough of these.

Street Books supports campaigns, especially patron-led, that provide solutions to houselessness and poverty & we engage our full community in dialogues about solutions.
