Marking Ten Years

Street Books started in June 2011 with a lone librarian at Skidmore Fountain every Wednesday. In the ten years since then, it has grown into a thriving nonprofit that dispatches up to 8 librarians to locations all over Portland. As we reflect on a decade in operation, we want to revisit the first documentary ever made about us. Thanks to director Travis Shields and to the librarians who helped grow Street Books when it was new: Sue Zalokar, Celia Luce and Beth Chapman.

Stay tuned this coming week for an exciting announcement and for ways you can support Street Books as we continue our outreach to library patrons on the streets this summer.
