Queer Boo!(k) Drive Event & Celebrating the 3rd birthday of Loaners!

Hello there:

Here come the golden days of autumn light, followed by a day of torrential rain. Here's a library shift full of lively conversation and 50 books checked out (!!). Over here is a quieter shift with time for a deeper exchange, (a patron's upcoming cataract surgery, a visit with a kitten). We have seen patrons sit down in the sunshine with a new coloring book and we've also seen them lose all their belongings in a sweep, forced to reconstitute themselves in order to survive the night. Street Books librarians are there for it all, five days a week. Rain and shine. Thank you so much for supporting our work.

Loaners turns 3!

October marks 3 years since we published our book Loaners: The Making of a Street Library and we're thrilled to announce that we're into our second print run of the book, with an audiobook due out later this fall.

Come celebrate with authors Ben Hodgson and Laura Moulton at a reading & community conversation on Wednesday, October 23rd, 6:30-8 at Stack's Coffeehouse (1831 N. Killingsworth).

Want to read Loaners with your book group and host an in-person or online conversation with the authors? Contact librarian@streetbooks.org for details.

Huge thanks to Oregon Cultural Trust for the recent support!

When you match your cultural donation with a gift to the Oregon Cultural Trust, you direct a portion of your state taxes to fund vital organizations, and come tax time, you will receive up to a 100% refund in the form of a state tax credit.
By using the Cultural Tax Credit, Oregonians and the Cultural Trust have awarded close to $40 million, and counting, to the cultural nonprofits that define our quality of life. HOW BUSINESSES CAN PARTNER WITH STREET BOOKS

Street Books is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and we rely on our individual and business community partners to do the good work we do!

Here are some ways that we partner with businesses, local or otherwise:

1. Give a straight-up donation of any amount at
any time and consider a recurring (for example, a monthly) gift. Recurring gifts help us all year round! Businesses with donations of $1,500 and greater will be recognized on the homepage of our website for a year.
2. Sponsor a bike-based library shift or a organizational partner’s library and librarian services for a year. Or sponsor one of our signature events - Revelry & Community Celebration in June or Pedalpalooza Book Lovers Bike Ride in August!

Email librarian@streetbooks.org or call Monica at 503-860-9880 for more information – thank you!

Community Outreach Director, Diana Rempe (at left) and Librarian Kerry Robison recently took part in Go Lloyd's PARK(ing) event that transformed parking spaces into a public living room/reading nook.
